The Pre-Engineering Program at Mid-America Technology Center is designed to prepare high school students for success in colleges of engineering.  This math intensive program requires students take rigorous mathematics courses as well as engineering related classes where math and science concepts are intertwined and problem-solving skills are emphasized.  Pre-Engineering students gain academic knowledge and skills necessary for success in a college-level engineering program and gain an understanding of the engineering field so they can determine if engineering is a career they wish to pursue.

College credit is available upon passing the AP Calculus BC Exam.  Please note since universities differ in their recognition of AP course credit, the amount of college credit earned is dependent upon the policies of the specific university a graduate plans to attend.

Students in this major will study pre-engineering through Project-Lead-the-Way curriculum that will introduce them to the concepts and principles of engineering and there will be a strong emphasis on developing problem-solving skills. They will learn how engineers use math, science and technology to solve problems. Pre-Engineering prepares high school students for success in colleges of engineering.
